Instructor: Margaret Ferraro
Level: Open to all skill levels.
The first three classes will focus on application techniques. We begin by studying application techniques and playing with colour. In studying the work of other pastelists we learn how each method of application can be used effectively and creatively. Next we focus on colour theory. Studying value, and colour temperature, and how this relates to landscape, still life, and other subjects/modes of expression will be studied as weekly projects. The students will acquire an in depth understanding of pastel application techniques, and an appreciation for the wonderful spontaneous and forgiving medium of pastel. By the end of this workshop, students will have a thorough knowledge of how to set up, begin and work through an entire painting, able to work independently at home.
