After selling out both of their festivals in New York’s Central Park and Santa Anita Park in Los Angeles in 2017, Modern Sky USA announces the expansion of its festival series to Toronto on Sunday, September 23, 2018.
This year’s Modern Sky Festival brings together a diverse array of genres – from hip-hop, to pop to folk – from Asia and Canada. The initial lineup announce includes Tizzy T, who stars in popular reality competition show Rap of China, and Brooklyn-via-Chengdu rapper Bohan Phoenix, who is scheduled to perform with special guests. Chinese folk artist Yao 13’s set will feature Sesame Leaves label-mate Erbai, as well as another prestigious special guest. Sunset Rollercoaster, the Taiwanese band whose song “My Jinji” broke 10 million streams last year will also perform. More artists to be announced.
The Modern Sky Festival was first produced in Beijing in 2007. With 120+ artists performing on multiple stages over three days, the event is mainland China’s largest-ever produced music festival. In 2014, The Modern Sky Festival became the first international music festival series produced by a mainland China-based company by launching their event in New York. They have since expanded to Los Angeles, Seattle, Helsinki, and more. Today, The Modern Sky Festival is one of 20+ large-scale music festivals produced in cities throughout the world by Modern Sky Entertainment, China’s leading music entertainment company.
