Dancing in the Park: On Stage with Jazzamboka and Fumu Jahmez Dance

On Canada Day, the Aga Khan Museum kicks off its second annual Dancing in the Park series with a FREE outdoor concert featuring Montreal-based group Jazzamboka and dancer Fumu Jahmez. The event takes place in the Aga Khan Park adjacent to the Museum and will include various food offerings. With the Museum’s extended hours until 9 p.m., guests are also invited to explore the galleries, with admission by contribution.

Despite the name, Jazzamboka does not limit itself to conventional jazz, as each member draws on their diverse musical background, including hip-hop, soukous, be-bop, funk, rock, electronic and, above all, the music of Central Africa.

A multi-talented performing artist, Fumu Jahmez has performed with Congolese artists such as Papa Wemba and Ray Lema and regularly teaches African dance workshops in Toronto.
