In celebration of International Day of the Girl (Oct. 11, 2018), Plan International Canada created a diverse group of girl statues to symbolize girls and young women in Canada and worldwide who stand up and stand together for girls’ rights and gender equality. These statues are part of Plan International Canada’s newest campaign called Defy Normal. In a world where it’s ‘normal’ for girls to be denied equality, we are calling on all Canadians to Defy Normal. The public is encouraged to take their photo with the girl statues and tell @plancanada how they will #DefyNormal to advance girls’ rights and gender equality.
