Citadel + Compagnie present applauded co-bill Elvis & The Man In Black, May 2-5 & 9-12, 2018, at The Citadel: Ross Centre for Dance, the iconic works from acclaimed choreographers Laurence Lemieux and James Kudelka. Based on the life and times of musical icons Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, Elvis & The Man In Black weaves song, movement and pop culture references seamlessly to honour the legacy of these Rock & Roll Hall of Famers. With only a whisper of his signature hip-roll, Looking For Elvis is a sophisticated portrayal of music royalty, exposing the audience to Presley’s inner turmoil beyond his public persona. Expect country choreography in Kudelka’s The Man In Black, which delves into the sadness of Cash’s music whilst celebrating the American working class grit that he so embodied. Accessible and contemporary, Elvis & The Man In Black offers a new way to encounter two rock legends.
